Special News!

This Saturday is a special day for the Comic, because it's the 100th strip! I know if you get the RSS feed from the comicgenesis site, it says something like- 106 or something, but that's a lie because it counts bonus arts I've posted, in addition to sketches and things from the (very few) updates I missed. So! Saturday is my actual 100th real comic drawn! And because it's special, I'm posting a double sized strip, and goodie arts to thank all you guys for reading for 100 pages of Geek Blather.

Also, to celebrate, I'm going to open a contest on the forum. An actual contest not a trivia game, which is open to all forum participants (and if you want to play too, all you have to do is sign up.) More on that to be posted later.

But- 100! Yaay!

Ta da!

New fanarts up by Miruku. She also draws Emma and is wicked talented.
Also- I finally finished updating the archives. They're separated by storylines, and by bonus/Saturday strips. *whew* that was a lot of thumbnails to make.

For people who are interested, I'm also organizing Keenswim this year, a ComicGenesis cross promotional dealie, and it's getting a new look and some reorganization. I'll post a link when it goes up. Any art I do won't show up until August, because there have been so many awesome submissions so far. Yaay!

This week's contest:

There's a trivia contest on the forum. To the internets for the answer!

Things happening behind the scenes

Okay, here's some updates for folks out there.

  • I have this week off between jobs. I've been farming, and on the 25th, I'm back to working in grass seed. While I have the time off, I'm working on getting ahead on the strip (as of today, I have comics up to this Saturday finished.)
  • When I am ahead of the comic, it means I can post preview sketches on the Arts section of the forum.
  • Folks can also potentially win sketches and drawings from me on the forum. So far, I'm just posting trivia guessing games, but soon I'd like to host a fic/art contest. As that would be awesome. (You know you want to enter)
  • I definitely DID NOT forget about the very kind people who donated to appear in the strip. Which- incidentally- people are still welcome to do. Bad Children Part II just ended up taking a little longer than I thought. I anticipate Good Chilredn Part II to be about 15 strips, and then I can do the things I intended to do with pictures and donatey people. I didn't forget about y'all though.
  • Since I do have some time, I'm also more than happy to do commissions for people, of their game characters, or well- just about anything. Feel free to email me about those if you're curious.

I think that's all for now...

Archives and ratings.

Remember how sometimes archives exist? Yeahhhh... see, here's the thing. Most people (I figure) if they want to go read the archive of a comic, start and the beginning and work their way through from there, or, if said comic has a dropdown box (which mine does) they can navigate from there. But, I thought it would also be nice, if people couldn't quite remember what they were looking for, to have an archive. Which means I've started updating the archive page. All the storylines are put in, as are the first two months of silly strips (which are being listed individually with a thumbnail for easy reference.) The silly ones are going to take forever, but- c'est la vie. I'm workin' on it.

On a similarly flavored note, I've also added ratings in the archives along with the storylines, just in case. I'm not a huge fan of ratings, but I find that people like to know what they're getting into. In general, if a strip is going to be rated pg-13 or something similar, I'll let people know in the title of the storyline. The ratings on the archive page also list what it's earning its rating with, for example, language, violence, what have you. Because some people aren't bothered by sex, but take strong offense to violence, or- what have you. So, there you go. One would think that people on the intarwebs would be self censoring, since all you have to do if you find something you don't like is click back (or alt+left) and the icky goes away. One would think... Anyway. Ratings. Oh yah, they're also- pretty general, and completely made up by me, based on- whatever I feel like. Not so much a code, more like- guidelines.

News...

News has been sparse, because my sleep is broken, and that makes updates uh- floopy. I'm alive (obviously) and things are good.

In the official contest section of the forum, I started the first official forum contest. (say official forum and contest again... official forum contest...)

Prize is a sketch from me.

Disclaimers:

I'm putting this up right along with the strip because, well- sometimes stuff happens in the strip that-- could strike nerves with people. I think most of you guys out there are pretty cool, and willing to ride out the story. So I'm just going to say this. Just like everyone, Gwydia and Rae have reasons why they do things. Sometimes they're happy/funny/silly/sad/hurtful/crazy reasons, but they make sense to them. Neither Kara, nor I necessarily condone all of their actions or their beliefs. That doesn't stop them from having them. (Believe me, I know, I've tried.)

That's my disclaimer. Err- that, basically- shit happens. All I can do is to promise a squick warning. For thoughts and questions, or if you want to poke at either of these guys, I have a forum, and a chatbox for that. Knock yourselves out.

In which I feel like a baby rockstar...

See, I'm still fairly new at making comics. Going on 7 months (which, granted, is a long time compared to some comics, but, a drop in the bucket compared to most of the ones I read.) The other day Gisele sent me an email, a forward from someone asking for help creating a comic. The fact that a) I was thought of as a person who might have advice about such a thing, b)A comic rockstar like Gisele thought of me in such a capacity, c) the fact that I actually had pertinent things to say all combined to make me feel like a baby rockstar yesterday.

Also! (Don't you love that convention? Where I "shout" a one word sentence?) a few more people have joined the forum, which brings me a lot of joy. I always like hearing what you all have to say.
