I want to say thank you to everybody that has kept in touch on the chat box, and has kept checking back faithfully. This has been a rough fall, and I'm going to work on putting up one new comic a week for a while. I have to remind myself, that when I started the comic I was unemployed, and now I'm working full time. I did miss working on it, so I'm going to keep working on it, and work on keeping a schedule that doesn't make me nuts. I really liked having more time to put more detail and shading and time into the strip (hopefully you guys noticed) and I think a schedule that lets me do one really good strip a week, rather than three third-assed strips a week makes for a better comic overall.

Anyway, thank you guys, for staying with me. :)

Yes, I did kind of fall off the planet. I am aware of this. I did get moved, and all sorted out there again, which is good. There has been some family health stuff that requires my attention more than drawing pictures. Adding to that, being promoted at work, while good, is also more stressful, as is working on more "official" project things, which are both work and organization related. Doing the comic and working full time is draining. Work by itself is draining lately. Just family health issues, also draining. So, my brain kind of broke and I really haven't felt up to drawing any thing at all (don't worry, I'm not just ignoring the comic, I really haven't drawn for a long time.) So, what I am saying is the comic is not over by a *long* shot. But the artist needs a little time to reassemble a working brain.

Okay, so- the comic might be a little sporadic over the next month. I'm going to try and keep my regular schedule, but...

I'm moving! Well, Miles and I are moving. And Potato. And Bailey. New place, garage, new digs, etc. I'm v. excited about it. Over this weekend I'm not going to be updating because I'm going to be in Maine for a wedding, and seeing Kara!:D
And then we'll be moving during the month of August. Hopefully it won't disrupt comic schedule but- you know. Moving. Packing, all that stuff.

Anyway, hopefully things will settle down quickly and I'll have even more time for drawreen because my commute to work will be cut in half. Yay!

It's finally Friday. Sorry if today's comic is a little sparse- I was exhausted and I think I'm getting a cold, because I took a nap AND went to bed at eleven thirty last night. I was sleepsome.

Also, about the hat, Kara is the one to nudge about that... as she is also the one in possession of a quantity of grey fabric... So, nudge Kara ;)

Also also... I'm a HUGE nerd. I should have known it was only a matter of time, really. Because I saw Star Trek (the new movie). I never watched the shows, or any of the other movies... but I loved the movie. I've had Trekkies in my family, so, really I shouldn't be surprised. I have a great fondness for all incarnations of Spock and his nommable ears.

It occurs to me uhm, now, that I'm out of town for the week (at a seed convention) so comic is getting a week off, because last time I flew with the tablet, security wanted to dismantle it to make sure it wasn't a bomb or something. So... rather than have a heart attack this time- I left it at home. I took my computer so I can breathe, but- yanno, tabby is expensive to replace. Anyway- my gift to all of you is not telling you about the seed convention business. You're welcome!

Guess what! Kara's GRADUATING from Law School today! Which is pretty damn awesome- because she also just got back from the Hague and I'm very proud of her, so everybody say Congratulations Kara!

Also, the next comic will be up on Wednesday, as Monday is a holiday. Happy Memoriaduation day!

I finally have my new computer (and it is bad ASS!)

And most importantly- for you all-- new comics updating Monday.

For those who are curious about the general state of Quinn, I have a 'new' job. I'm at the same place I have been working, but in a new department. I watch grass grow and it grows much faster than one might think! Also, Annual Ryegrass roots glow under a blacklight! It's cool.

Also, I'm learning about food testing, which is also really cool, I have a lab coat and everything. I can haz... SCIENCE!

... I would apparently spend all day on the phone with tech support if I didn't have to work. Because my laptop is dead... again. I'm so frustrated with it right now, but I kind of have to get it fixed because I can't afford a new one. My favorite is how everytime it breaks, it's something NEW that breaks. First the motherboard, then the harddrive... now I'm guessing it's the battery? It won't start at all. Like- the lights come on and go right off.

To actually answer the question, if I could, I'd probably stay home and draw and sleep in until ten every day. But that only works if someone wants to pay me $60 a day to do that... Takers?

Yeah... ok, back to work.

Right now my work situation is kind of- up in the air. Sometimes I might be able to work a lot (yay for paying bills) sometimes not as much. New comics will be up when I can get them up, but really, being able to pay rent and stuff is kind of more important to me right now.

I'm taking the week of Christmas off, mostly because I'm going to be traveling around visiting family and don't know what my internet situation will be, and it's the holidays. If updates are kind of spotty this week, well... the weather is miserable and last night the power went out. So, if updates are missing or late, it's lack of electricity.

Sorry for the unexplained lack of updates... there was a death in my family and I just really wasn't up to drawing comics.

Also, folks in the chatterbox nattering about glbt readers... well, it's a fairly glbt comic. I'm straight and married (Happy birfday Miles!) but my whole life I've had people very close to me from all kind of backgrounds, sexual orientations, skin colors etc. Birds of a feather flock together.

I'm working on keeping up regular updates (with dubious success obviously). I've switched jobs for a while, while my other job is in "off" season, and I'm working at a farm for the time being. Honestly, I just get home fuckin' exhausted after being at work at 7.30 and working outdoors all day. *thankfully* this is the last week, finishing up farm work, and then it's inside to clean seed. This is a happy because it a) means I can show up later in the day, and b)work inside where it's warm and dry. So, comics might be a little spotty this week while we finish up (have I mentioned I'm not a morning person? I like to stay up late- I don't like being too tired to think when it's late). You guys will still get three comics up this week, just at irregular times.

So, I finally have my computer back. The story of what happened is that the hard drive partitioner was corrupted. This is a sad thing, as it makes the hard drive not work. At all. It is also a sad thing, because it means that the stuff that was on the computer, is not, apparently, recoverable. So, any stuff that I hadn't backed up in the past few months- bye bye. (Including the strip I'd been working on as it decided to go kaput.)

I know, it's a sad story, but there's a happy ending. I do have an external drive, which I had backed up to, so the main necessary files, the webpages, the installation files for photoshop, opencanvas, etc, I still had. I had an issue, with oC, in that it wouldn't let me save pdf's. Ahm, this is a sad thing. I need to be able to export pdf's. So, instead I have to run it as administrator. Anyway, the end of the story is that comic will be back up to normal starting tomorrow, because I finally have all my drivers, and things I need set up and organized again and everything is in working order.

It also means now I have a 160G hard drive, rather than a silly 80G hard drive. So, I'm pleased. Yaay! with all the crap that's happened to it- Dave is now twice the computer he was when I bought him. So- all in all, it's a good thing.

Joys of the internet....

I'm something of a geek. That may or may not come as a surprise to some of you. Probably not. Generally, my solution for most things is, "Let's ask the internet!"

Going back, when I first moved from the Midwest to Washington state, in about sixth grade, one of the first things I connected with up here was the music. There's a lot of country in the midwest, so when I came out here to find Possum Dixon, Violent Femmes, and Modest Mouse- I was quite pleased. Every night on a "Walk-Man" (strange device once used to play audio recording devices called "Tapes") I listened to the top ten on 107.7 The End. When I went to college, that was one of the things I really missed, was the constant influx of new music.

Fast forward to today. I look at seeds all day, and listen to music, and usually draw the comic during my breaks and at lunch. I have internet hooked up in my office, and happily, The End has streaming audio available online. I am so pleased.

Interestingly, a lot of the bands that I started listening to on the end have new stuff coming out this year. Frabjous joy!

Computer update

I got a call from my computer guy... and apparently he can't fix it, so Dave is on a trip to HP to be fixed. *sigh* It will probably be about two weeks before I have him back, so, until then any comics that show up will be incidental, as they mean working on not-my computer. On the plus side, when I get him back, hopefully he'll be in better working order, with happy ports and battery and everything. One can hope anyway.
Sorry for the impromptu hiatus guys. This is really frustrating.

So... my computer has fuxxed. Uhm. In a not-starting-at-all kind of way. So, I'm taking it in to a repair place... any donations folks feel like helping out with would really really really help out at this point. Even if it's just like- a dollar.
Comics will be up again... whenever I get my computer up and running again. (Currently I'm at work posting this.)
